Default Stretched Bag questions….

I'm looking into doing stretched bags and fender. But before I buy anything I want to make an educated decision. So here are my questions.

1. On bags that are not cut for exhaust, is the part where you would cut part of the storage space, or is it solid so that you can cut it yourself? Same with fender?

2. Having a stock height Street Glide, what is the longest stretch I could do without scraping while in a lean? I was thinking either 4" or 5". The 5" I saw that I liked had the bags coming more to a point as the outside edge came in probably an inch or so.

3. Are there quick disconnects for lid speakers and lights that are sealed so that rain doesn't get inside?

4. Any other info that you think I need to know before taking on this project?

Thank for the help.

P.S. I apologize if there are a million threads already on this topic, I just find to much stuff that is not related when I do a search.

1. Pretty sure it's all part of storage space. Same with fender? Don't know what that means. Mine is a fender cover. Stock fender still on bike.
2. My bags are 5". I wanted them to cover the pipes. They're "scalloped" on the bottom. If I scrape them, I think I'll have bigger problems than scraped bags. I'm not an aggressive rider anyway. (If they're "scalloped" on bottom, and you're not an aggressive rider, you could probably get away with 6" if they're out there anywhere.)
3. Can't help you with this one.
4. Bags --- from Fairing Factory. Got just bags & used stock lids.
Fender cover --- from Gator Boxes. Changed to a short StreetGlide lightbar, and went LEDTail lights.

Im towards the end of the same journey.

I asked about fairing factory on a few sights. Everyone said you get what you pay for...

So far I disagree.

I think the fairing factory 5 inch bags are a little thicker and they so far fit with no problem. I also bought there overlay fender.

I got lids for speakers 6x9.. I think If you use a marine speaker and silicone it in you should have no problems. Im going to use a weather plug at bag to disconnect for bag removal.

Exhaust cut outs are already there on the bags. The area were you set your bags is at stock height. Just the outsides are is stretched. You can buy a plug and cut your own on the ends.

The fender was the hardest. But I got that done also. Isue is it covers everything. You must remove the crome grab bar and Install these little plates( EBAY) to hold the rear together. You will also cut the crap out of your stock fender. I didn't like it anyway.

5 inch bags wont scrape because fairing factory has angled ends.

I went with CVO bags 1+3" from EP. After doing some research it seems that anything longer than 3" will scrape if you ride aggressively.

My problem with the Harley bags is that the front isn't really all that much longer. I have the fake extensions right now on my bike and it looks good from the back. But I want the extra storage space that comes with the real ones. Thanks guys.

Any aggressive riding will scrap your bags. Dirty Bird Concepts by the way who I went through have angled bags to help alleviate this and you will catch the floor boards before you catch the bags in any serious lean. As far as the bag storage space what I have found depending on who you go through will dictate the space that. I have had FBI bags which are great as far as storage space. No real difference from the stock bags. The bags I have on there now are a little narrower but you can still get about the same amount of stuff in it. But because I don't carry much on the SG since I have have the Limited it wasn't much of a concern to me. Plus with 4 6x9's and a amp in the bags wasn't going to get much in there anyway.
