Default Lower Fairing Speakers - Yes or No

Question for those of you that have added speakers to your lower fairings. Is it a noticeable upgrade? I'm looking into several different speaker/amp upgrades for a '12 Street Glide and plan to add the lowers. I'm just not sure if adding the speakers will give me a noticeable difference in sound enough to justify getting them.

Depending on if I add them or not, will probably make a difference in the amp/speakers I get for the fairing.

If I do get the lower speakers, I will probably end up going with the J&M Rokker 7.25's for both and their 250w 2 channel amp.

If I don't get the lowers, I may just end up getting the Rockford Fosgate amp/speaker combo from Bagger Nation.

I had also gave some consideration to the Boom Audio set up, but am worried that spending that much and the lower amp power (compared to the others) would leave me unsatisfied. Any feedback on that would be appreciated too.

Has anyone with the RF amp added lower speakers? How did it turn out? If that's a good option, based on what i've read I could get the CVO Style lowers speaker housings and add the speakers.

Although, one of the most attractive things about the J&M system is that it is all plug and play and designed specifically for the batwings.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

Build your own kit close to the baggernation kit. trust me you can save a pile of money and probably buy the lower speakers boxes and grills for the same amout if you order the kit from yaffe. Yaffes kits are cool. but dont make the same mistake i did. only good thing i like about my system from them is the Hawg wired amp. It seems to run cooler then the rockford fasgate stuff. and i added some after it was all said and done. The $1600 House party kit for a road glide I could have built for about $1200. and now that he is selling the RF PBR300x4 I bet his margin for profit is better. just my .02

I will say this Yaffe instructions and kits have came along ways since i ordered mine in 2011. when i got mine there was no wiring, conectors, and barely instructions included. Now i think he sets them up a little better. for me it wasnt a big deal since i have alot of audio experience. but if you dont it might be worth the extra coin.

And dont do the rokker system. I think they are to high pitched and priced. Car audio stuff sound so much better and for the price if you ever have a problem they are easy to find replacement parts

I installed the Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp with the HD lower speaker boxes and four Focal CA165 6.5" speakers and it sounds great and I could not be happier with the setup. I installed it last fall. I crank up my speakers and amp and have not had any issues with heat or anything as of yet with this setup and have run it for several hours in high temps again with no issues. The sound is great, its not perforect meaning you could always use more bass but it sound great never the less. I can run it about half volume and actually have to turn it down even if riding at 100 mph. I run a 10 inch Longride shield with a Corbin dual touring seat on a 09 Streetglide. I purchased my harness and amp bracket from a fellow forum member I think his user name is starlifter but PM me and I can get you him contact info. I had the original J&M 7.25" speakers which were an improvement over stock and I was and original tester but I was not really impressed with the new rokker stuff or the price but thats just my opinion.

If I was to go with the rf setup, I'd probably lean towards a kit like bagger nation has. I really know nothing about mobile audio setup so to me, paying a little more for a plug and play setup is worth it. I noticed that the RF amp is 300 watt, 4 channel. I assume I would just plug each speaker (2 in fairing and 2 in lowers) into each channel of the amp?

Correct you hook each speaker to a ch on the RF amp. there will be a little cutting and striping of wire to hook your factory speaker wires to the RCA style wire. but its not a real hard task. Unless you decide to put a aftermarket deck in that has pre amp outs front/rear. which would be nice cause you would have a fader option and could set you speakers up to fade and control where the sound is coming from.

When i said the Heat comment on the RF amp I wasnt speaking from experiance. I have installed 1 and it got warm while tunning but never hot. but i have talked to a few amp salesman that have said they will get hot to the touch on long run time at peak output.

Would running 4 speakers out of a 300 watt 4 channel amp be louder than running them out of a 250 watt 2 channel amp in series?

I did the Rockford Fosgate PBR 300x4 with CVO lowers. the amp can be had for 160 shipped from ebay . combine it with your choice of speakers and I think it is hard to beat for the $$

Honestly, for me, all I did was upgrade the stock speakers to HogTunes & they're plenty loud for my taste. I didn't really see a need to add more, but that's just me & I'm not a young head-banger anymore...
