The complete 50amp upgrade kit is part number 2212-0408 $524 retail. You can also get just the stator instead of the full kit for quite a bit less. If you need this stuff i can order it for you. Give me a call. I can provide discounted pricing as well.

No my clutch is solid no slipping whatsoever.

I found this tech read interesting http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/ explaining the OEM stator issues.

I always forget about Amazon, CE 3 phase 50 amp kit is on the way. My indy will install it for $150. I figure my time is worth more not to mention I don't have to deal with the special tools BS.

Thanks to all for your input. I'll update after install.

Road tested today and all is back to normal. Indy had no issue installing the CE 3 phase 50 amp kit.

I think I paid $400 for that setup direct from Powersport parts last year.

It sounds like your regulator. Check the diodes thru the connector. The resistance should be 0 ohms one way and 1 ohm with probes switched. The fluctuating voltage is a result of no regulation. The coils were making max voltage and heating up. That could be the smell. The fact that you were getting any charging at all would point to stator being OK.
