OP go to the link below and look at the ED 16. This replaces the factory crap and eliminates any rear wiggle. I did it to my 04 and it corners like its on rails. A bit pricy but you could probably do it for less if you found and bought the bearings that are indicated.

This is the way I'd go, and the way I WILL go if my swingarm gets sloppy... Since I don't have the machines to make my own, $106 is pretty cheap...

I did the Glidepro shaft and bushings on my old 2004 and what a difference that made. If I could afford the GlidePro setup I would and will do it again.

Finally got to take the bike out on a ride. The difference is quite appreciable. There is no wallowing in turns. The bike feels perfectly stable in turns. In straight lines where I could induce a secondary wiggle by shaking the handlebars, there is now none. At no point in riding twisties did it cause butt pucker or nervousness. Catching the edges of potholes or pavement fractures caused no deflection of the bike, it simply rode over them.

With a whopping ~50 miles of riding, I am quite pleased with the results.

I strongly suspect that in oem form, with the built in play in those bearing insert bushings, belt tension held the swingarm to the left. Adequate in a straight line. But with side loading, the swing arm could move against that belt tension, deflecting the rear wheel and imparting a small rear wheel steer.

Awesome that a simple fix like that worked. Way to go ! I will be doing the whole Glide Pro setup, new swingarm shaft, bushings and front motormount. I expect spectacular results as I did the original Glide Pro several years ago.

Addressing the root cause of the problem is always the best way and that is what you have done.
