Sounds like a fair deal. Selling to a private party is most times a PIA. They all want to test drive, tire kick, don't show up on time, then give some story about they need to sell something first to be able to buy yours, etc.
As long as you've done your research and know the value of yours and theirs, you can sleep at night.
I traded an 06 Screaming Eagle Ultra for a 14 Limited for little over $ 12K OTD. They were a MSRP dealer and gave me 16K for a bike that I might have got 18K for on a private sale. With the tax savings, I netted 17K. Wasn't worth 1K to deal with the tire kickers.

If it's what you want, go for it. It's good for the economy and for your happiness quotient.

Default Take the trade and avoid seller hassles.....

It sounds like a a pretty good deal. We all know that we will never recover the money for our add-ons, that is how it goes.

Again, not a bad deal at all plus you will have an SGS sitting at your house that you can start adding "Mods" to very soon! If you can afford it go for it! Plus, I bet you put 4,000 miles on your new SGS before the end of the Summer

I try to get 2 prices, one with trade in and one without trade in. But really with a newer bike trade is probably close to fair and a lot easier.

I think they're being pretty generous. Black SG is like $20,300, freight and dealer prep is $1000, tax and fees....so they are giving you about $10,000 or more for your bike. I've seen and heard of much worse for an '09.

One local dealer prices their used bikes ridiculously close to brand new bikes, and they always point out all the options on them. What a crock-o-$hit...because you know darn well they don't pay the sellers for the mods on the trade-in.

So, if it's really just your bike+$12,000, I certainly would do it. Good luck whatever you decide.
