Default Asking For some advice.

I am tossing up trading in my 2009 Street Bob for a 2014 Street Glide.
I was wondering if you guys think I am getting a decent deal.
My Street Bob has 4000 miles on it, Black Vance & Hines Big Radius (2 into 2) pipes, Fuel Moto Micro EFI Tuner with their Pro Billet Stage one Intake. Burley Slammer rear suspension, Burley 14" Apes, Forward Controls. The bike is in great condition.
The local Harley dealer is giving me a trade for a standard Street Glide in Vivid Black of $12000 out the door.
Does anyone think I should just sell on ebay, or take the trade.

If you still have all of your stock parts for your Bob I'd put those back on the bike and trade them try to sell your parts. I don't care what they tell you, they aren't allowing any extra for your add ons. Do that or try to sell your bike outright.

I was thinking of the same thing. But I didn't know if my return would be the same if I sold it outright.
I am going into it thinking "all additions were just a labor of love".

Well in the end it's your money and if you ok with letting them HAVE your extras and you feel good about the deal they're giving you, then I say go for it.

Just a thought but are you providing enough info to get an objective opinion? Crunch a few numbers..What is the NADA wholesale on your 09? What is the dealer list for the 14. Add your totals what you have in your 09 and for what you paid for it new? Stir it all around it your head. 4000 miles is sure not a lot of miles for a 5 year old bike. Should be fairly easy to sell by a owner apx mid way to retail. Probably easier to sell it fixed up and sell the original take off on ebay. I have sold ever OEM take off I have ever had on ebay pretty fast at cut rate competitive prices.

I agree...if your okay with the "out the door" price, then that's all that matters.

An out the door price on a 14 SG DEPENDING ON OPTIONS is going to between 21k and 25k. Provide some more info on the deal what are they giving you for your bike? What are they letting you have the SG for? Service contract? How is the market around your house on selling used bikes?

And why is there only 4k on a 5 yr old bike. Lol

The problem I have with selling outright is you end up dealing with an awful lot of goofballs.

I tried to sell a low milage 5 year old pickup last year. I was asking 17k and I heard more hard luck "are you sure you couldn't take....." or...

"how about taking my boat in trade......"

After the 3rd time of making arrangements to show the truck and the person didn't show up, I cut my losses and traded it in. I got $1000 less than I was asking (which was about $500 more than I was willing to take) on the open market and actually what I'd been through I felt it was worth it.

Seems like less than 10k and the open market is ok, you get above that and pickings get pretty slim and the goofballs stand in line to waste your time.

Also in my state you only pay tax on the difference between the trade in and the new vehicle.
