I have an 08. My budy has a 2011...I can't tell the difference.ive Ridden his..and now with fat overlay fenders and 5 inch stretched bags...They look the same also.
And for power....I have a tuner...we race up the on ramp I beat him every time 98 vs 103...He has a harley dealer tune...Both have intakes and exhaust....now if we're doing 70 and we both roll on ..He pulls away slowley....but in racing I win...
I would not sell unless I went to 2014.but I'm to cheap....I would spend that money on my 08 anyway
Also wanted to say Thanks again for all the great input and ideas, I really appreciate it!!

I have looked at a few of the 2014 Street Glide Specials.. They are awesome bikes and the GPS would be really nice.. Seen a few things that looked kinda cheap which took a little away from the bike.. That is really why I asked myself this question.. Is it really worth spending around $10k more for a new bike?
I think it might be me.. When I click on a photo it prompts a message from the forum.. being a new member I think I have to wait?
Hmmm.... What are some of the main reasons the '09 and up are that much better?
It's marketing... the Motor Company says they're better.
Actually, for the 2009 model year, Harley introduced a new frame, new swingarm, and a revised engine-mounting system, all intended to add more load capacity and better handling.
I've had 4 touring bikes, an '03, '08, '10, & a 2012, all with at least a stage 1 and aftermarket headers. My 2008 Street Glide was nice but my main issue with it was the high gearing, the annoying 5th gear whine, and in the summertime ran the hottest of any bike I've owned.
I was saying earlier to get an '09 or newer if you really wanted to spend a lot of money fixing one up because of the design issues above and in my opinion the 180 tire is really desirable.
There's nothing wrong with keeping and riding the bike you have. I just don't think I would spend the kind of money you're talking about on an '08. Just my opinion.
MOD and ROLL what you have, I wasnt sure what I was looking for. I knew I wanted a bagger to MOD. Actually I was seeking a RG and ended up with an 03 SG Ann Ed. No regrets..., have 21/18 spokes and luv it.
I like my 08' being its lower than the 09's....plus I lowered it more. Not because i'm short....I'm 6'-0 and like the ol' school low look.
Definitely more of an "ol' school" kind of guy myself and have been thinking lowering..

Nice bike! That's the exact color I want and that is another thing I would end up probably painting my bike because I want something other then vivid black, ( I like it also but everyone has it ) really like candy red.. hmmm.. I really don't have anything to compare to since this is my first street glide.. Maybe the best thing to do is get out and ride a couple newer bikes.. Such a hard decision because everyone has valid points..
a properly tuned 08 will not run any hotter than an 09,and u can get a new 68 tooth rear sprocket(with or without ids) and have the same gearing as the 09,only advantage is the stiffer frame and bigger tire.
