Coincidently, I just ordered this helmet yesterday. I've pretty much worn novelty helmets over the years and decided I want to have a decent chance of actually protecting my brain/face in an accident. Looked at helmets for almost a year before deciding on the Arai. Very expensive but I feel it's worth it and the fit is fantastic ! Funny how I have become more safety minded the older I've gotten !
Look for the DOT/Snell rating! That means that the brain bucket has actually been extensively tested to do its original job which is to protect your brain case assembly group.
I do not believe Modular helmets get the SNELL rating due to the flip up modular system, but do receive the DOT rating.
The Scorpion exo 900 had a snell rating. It's flip up front can be removed, turning out into a solid 3/4 helmet
not sub 200 - -but I trust the Nolans - -have a N102 for my black bike and N104 for the white one -- they are both good -- if you do a search on Shark testing helmets -- their test showed the Nolans didn't open in a crash - others had a 20 percent opening
I've tried several helmets over the years, Bell, Arai, Nolan, some full face, some modular. Current favorite is Nolan N43. Removable chin guard, convince of modular, can be worn as full face or 3/4 helmet.

Interesting but yet the Shark got 5 stars and the Nolan only 4 stars.
I have had the Shark Evoline 2 series WAYER helmet for over 3 years and it is great very quiet and the features are the most modern the newr series 3 are even better, whatever size you got if you need more room near your chin all you have to do is order new cheek pads 1 size larger I have a medium and use the large cheekpads the larger size cheekpads are thinner thus giving more room. Great choice and you will love that helmet .
