Default Lock for QD docking accessories

I've always worried about my tourpak gettin swiped of the bike while on road trips. I already got the saddlebag security kits installed, but the tourpak w/contents is around $2K. Sooo, found HD Kit Number 90300047 + it's $70 freakin dollars. Besides, I'd need one for my backrest + flag mount also, that's $210. Sooo, after some serious brainstorming about how to lock it, I came up with a bold, novel, solution. Put a freakin lock on it! The one I used was an old Craftsman padlock sittin around the house, must have come off an old toolkit. Had another that came of a Ruger P-85 gun casae that would also work nicely. And it goes on whichever accessory I'm using. I'm a cheap SOB + just love savin money.

I did the same thing after buying those worthless HD locks that never did work right. Drill a hole and put a padlock in. So simple, even a caveman can do it. And for less than $70.

Must have pipes loud enough that you can't hear the rattle.

Actually, I just got back from Wallyworld + found a package of (2) 3/4" padlocks for $4.97 which are encased in vinyl so they don't bang around. Rattling won't be an issue. Besides, yer just jealous cuz you ain't got no Chinese made accesories from Wallyworld on yer Harley

I would imagine that one would leave the locks off when one is going down the road, and install them only when leaving the bike for any length of time. I know folks who lock and set the alarm, lock the bags, go thru the whole routine, when stopping to jump into a liquor store to buy a pack of cigs...for them, leaving off the locks would just add to the deal.
