With all the wonderful weather we've been getting here in NY a day in the 40's was an invitation to put some miles on the odometer. I've had the bike about 3 weeks now and managed 2 weeks ago to get 40 miles on the odometer, today I set out to break the 100 mile barrier.
I noticed my first trip out that the right grip was getting significantly hotter than the left but didn't pay much attention to it. Riding around today I felt it again and then poof they just quit working.
Anyone else have issues with the 2014 grips? I haven't eve gone searching for the fuse yet but I'm not going to screw with blowing fuses I'm calling the dealer on Monday morning to have them fix it.
On a good note, I broke the first 100 miles and grips not working and still a little chilled I'm still smiling...
No issues on the stock version, they are the only ones that were reliable. But anything can break, sounds like the controller in the left grip may be bad. Lucky you got to ride, we have been in the deep freeze since early Dec. Mike

Would they call that a "wear" item and maybe not cover it under warranty? I don't know other than the fact some dealers are pretty chicken when it comes to things like that. Some dealers would probably eat the cost and some might squeal like a pig under a gate.
I've installed two sets of the H-D heated grips on my 06RG in the past month. The first set barely got warm. The second set didn't even get warm. I picked up a set of Heat Demons today and will install them tomorrow.
Those grips are not new, they have used that same heated grip for years, they are just standard on the '14s. They have been known to be somewhat problematic. Good news is that since they are standard, it's covered by warranty
With all the electronics on the bike and the fact that I usually keep my bikes for around 10 years or so I bought the extended warranty.
A call to the dealer is in order Monday morning, it's supposed to snow again so I doubt I'm going to loose any riding time. On a good note my dealer has free pickup/delivery...

The heated grips have always sucked and I guess they still do. Mine quit working on my 2009 Ultra Classic and my HD dealer service manager told me to not waste my money getting them fix and just buy heated gloves. At least he was honest and didn't try to sell me another set or spend $200 getting them fixed. Poor design for whatever reason. Should not be that hard to make these be bullet proof but not a high priority for HD.
Man, glad to hear someone is able to get out and ride in this weather. I have over 2 feet of snow in my yard - had to trench out a pathway for my dog.
I have heard all kinds of problems throughout the years on the stock HD heated grips and that is why I went with the Heat Demons when I added them to my SG. It sure is a nice thing to have as it adds a little comfort, although I think a heated seat is in my near future.
