I don't think its a money issue...I think its a 'the regular bearing work' thing...also the torrington bearing are not necessarily the best bearing in all situations (cam dependant), while the torrington bearing will carry more load (at the cost or cooling and lubrication) the extra load is extreme overkill for the stock cams, and the extra cooling and lube provided by the stock bearings may even provide for a longer life expectancy of the bearing in closer to stock configurations...

One extremely important factor in choosing a manufacturer for parts is their ability, and willingness, to supply HD in the quantities needed to meet production. HD makes over 250,000 bikes per year. If just 1/4 of them needed that bearing the supplier would have to be willing to gear up their capabilities to make, inspect, and deliver on time over 125,000 bearings. That's a lot of bearings! Would HD be interested in using Torrington bearings? Sure they would. But Torrington's business plan does not include being a tier one supplier to HD. Torrington's owner JTEKT chose to invest their mass production efforts in other opportunities. There are a lot of folks out there who can make some really high quality parts. Some at a very low price. BUT! If they can't produce them in the big quantities to meet mass production, or don't want to, HD can't use them for OEM even they would like to. It's just not a matter of $$$$$. There's a lot more involved.

I guess that's something most people don't understand. The same goes for the big car makers.

I installed my cams this past weekend and everything went well. I didn't have the cam bearing installation/removal tool. However, a forum member out of the kindness sent me his tool to use without any questions, just that I return it when done. It's very rare these days you find someone willing to help you like that. his kindness is GREATLY appreciated and I just wanted to say thank you again!
