I work in sheet metal and couldmake some stronger brackets. If anyone has some broken orold brackets that theycould sendme, I am sure I could come up with something that will not break. It sounds like there are alot of people that need them.
I don't know about anyone else but I'm fine now thanks. SinceI had the seam welded I'm certain it will hold. I have read many posts on another forum where the brackets broke. It is happening so much that the dealers are keeping a good supply of brackets in stock. The MOCO should have specified this area be welded. Typical poor design.
there is a metal fabrication shop close to my house that delas in restaurant style stainless steel fixtures. I am planning on buying a left/right bracket from the HD dealer and take to them to get a price on how much to fabricate a better bracket out of thicker material an in SS. If the proce is reasonable I will get them to make 25 sets or so and advertise them on ebay and here. This is definatley one of the items that HD should improve. BTW, if the cost is not outragous, i will sell them for my cost as this is soemthing all of us touring riders can benefit from.
Is there any way to inspect the brackets without pulling the fairing? What do you have to remove from the fairing in order to see them?
I ask because when I run over potholes (and even small bumps sometimes) I get a quick metallic clunk/scrape sound from the area of the front end. Doesn't do it all the time when driving- just when I run over a bump. Not sure if it's coming from behind the fairing or if it's coming from lower down.
Wondering if I might have a broken fairing brace...
My fairing rattles a bunch on the left side. If I grab ahold of it I can stop it. I am also wondering how much I need to tear apart to inspect these brackets.
jbhawley---Put me down for a set also. I also installed the Hogtune Speakers and love them. To tell you the truth, I don't know if the brackets were broken or not but will install yours if you get them made.
