Yep, 95 Fat Boy to 07 SG. Must have been the salesmans first day. Loved my fatty but there is simply no comparison on riding comfort.

I myself too always wanted a FB and concidered it my "dream bike". I got a smokin' deal on one last fall and jumped on it. I had it for about 6 weeks and 750 miles before I traded it off for my 06 EGS. It was beating me up pretty good especially on those windy days, but hey I was living my dream! Well took the wife on a ride and she said "I hate it, sell it". She said she didn't feel safe on it with all the wobble from the wind and semi wash on the highway. (we had a 01 1200C and she loved riding that) Wasn't a real hard sell being that I was eyeing the EGS since before I bought the FB. Made a good deal on the EGS and have not looked back since. The FB is still one of the best looking Harleys made IMO!! Atleast I can say I owned one once.

I had a 2003 FB Tricked out, rode it for 15K after two years I stripped the chrome putting it back to stock and traded it in for an '06 Street Glide. Completely different ride. If I had only one bike choice it's the SG. I would have love to keep the FB as a second "around town" ride.

The SG is an awsome bike......JMHO

I agree with most here. I had an 04 Fatboy, just traded it in (with 22,500 miles) for an 07 StreetGlide. The Fatboy was/is a great "around town" cruiser. The SteetGlide is for the long haul, but does the cruising around town just as good. I find the StreetGlide to be much more nimble in its handling. Word of caution: The StreetGlide is lowered from the factory, which affects the rear suspension. Something to consider if you plan on doing a lot of two-up riding, plus baggage (maybe that is why the dealer said what he did).

The salesman told you that because he could tell you'd buy the FB. The touring bikes sell themselves and so they push selling the other models to meet their numbers. You should have taken them both for a ride out on the highway and you would have know then what you wanted. I had a FB years ago and told myself that I'd never own another softail. But they have gotten a lot better since then. The ride and motor is so much smoother. But the only thing I know is that bikes are like boats, you need several for different purposes. You need one to go fast on, (Sporty) one to look cool on, (Softail) one to cruise in comfort while looking good, (Road King) and one for the long hauls with tunes (Ultra).
Maybe I need to get rid of them all and get that chopped, stretched, bagger with the turbo motor and forget about everything else!

I rode the white Fatboy pictured below (fitted with hardbags and dual exhaust) for 6 years and 32,000 miles with no regrets. The black Street Glide is my newest ride and again no regrets. I find the SG is more comfortable but not by much. Riding two up the SG is far more capable. Enjoy your ride and if the time comes you'll make another choice.

This is just a rehash of what others have said. I have a 2002 fb with a 95inch kit and gear drive cam, and a well tuned 2006 ultra. The fb is lighter, quicker and fun around town as well as on the highway. For trips and longer rides, the ultra is hands down more comfortable andmaybe a little more stable. I ride them both, but when I ride two up, I'm on the ultra. The rain protection is also better on the ultra.
