I think it is just a matter of time folks...when the 2015 arrives, the same vicious cycle will reemerge, the '14 owners can't get over the new '15 owners, then it starts again when the '16s, 17s, 18s...lol
Yes and never before has the MOCO in it's history made as many changes in a single years time than it did for the 14 Rushmore models. Maybe that warrants just a little bit of a good feeling for it's owners...Take a break.
why do you think others here want or need to be part of your feeling good about your bike, nobody cares ride it and enjoy it and we will do the same with ours. Just quit throwing it in everybody's faces that you have a 14. You guys that think we are all jealous are truly pathetic, jealous of what? I just helped my buddy install a rear tour pak and speaker pods on his 2014 SGS. It's the middle of winter here so now to get the speakers to work we have to load it on a trailer take it to the dealer and have it flashed for the speakers to work. Really you think that's a change for the better? This is one example of many that aren't really necessary making the 14's to appealing to many of us here. Like I said before all that matters is if your happy with it, leave others out of it.
This is similiar to the forums for new cars. The C5 Camaro has it's own forum separate from the previous, as does the new C7 Corvette. There is no animosity towards owners of previous year bikes, just an outlet for the new Rushmore edition. Consider it just another forum similiar to the Dyna, Softail, forums etc.
When I stated I enjoyed riding my 2001 ultra I was told by the 2014 owners that I didnt really enjoy riding my bike and if I ever rode a 2104 I would put my old bike up for sale the next day and buy a new one. Also riding a old harley was better than not riding at all....
All I can say is wow to this thread. As a rider/owner of a pre-14 and a 14 it really isn't that serious, for real. As long as you are riding is all that matters.
The thing really got kicked off when some folks were just tickled to death about the troubles the new bikes were having which lead to a rash of best bike I ever had threads. those who owned one ddin't particularily like them called wet heads, leakers, puddles, shower heads or the like. We were told they were a mistake to purchase the first year production run. Most of this came from folks who happened to buy a 13, manoy of whom may have had buyers remorse. It always strikes people when somethng newer and bigger and faster comes out. I bought a truck and they changed the body the next year. I felt like I had bought an old truck. I think it's the same thing here.
The 14's had more changes than any bike in harley history. Almost everything was changed in one way or another. Some seem to have been really good, some the jury is still out on and some may have been better left alone. For that reason alone, mnay things are pertinent to the 14's only. Why take up the touring forum for 14 only items.
Finally, it's nice to go into the Rushmore forum and ask a question without getting a smart azzed answer from someone who does not own a Rushmore and has no idea about the cause or nature of the problem. I still read the Touring Forum because I get info there that answers questions I might have.
To the guy from the Sturgis area.....If everybody out there has an attitude like yours, I understand why no one lives there.
