No No No...what started this all was several jealous, belligerent almost nasty posts from folks not even owning one of the newer models. Some folks even enjoying the fact that there were issues with the new bikes. The one that went over the edge was on a post about someone having an issue with the infotainment, some jerk posted a "Ha ha", almost glad that the poster was having a problem. What the hell is that all about??? I see Sections for every other bike in the Harley line-up including the CVO's, what is different about having a Rushmore section? No one is excluded, everyone can enter and comment there, no different than any other section. Are CVO owners elitist because the own and can afford a $40K motorcycle? Just don't understand the hate going on here...
It could be any number of reasons like jealousy, envy, insecurities, just giving you a hard time but you don't have to let it bother you. Enjoy your new Rushmore forum. I think it's a great idea to have a forum for the Rushmore motorcycles. It gives people who want to discuss and learn more about the good and the bad of the new Rushmore project motorcycles.
Rumbles, please -- for the love of God -- tell me you're just kidding around.
I'm sorta new around here, having just bought my first HD, but I've been riding and racing for over 44 years. I can't believe the pettiness and materialism going on here. These bikes are all classics, right? We are all privileged to ride freshly produced American classics that are beloved the world over, and yet what I see in the dealerships is a continual recycled batch of two-year-old trade ins, disposed of in a lot of cases for the stupidest of reasons: it wasn't the "latest and greatest." The refinements on the 2014 bikes were just a business move by the Motor Company, something they had to do with the Indians arriving.
I've ridden an 09 SG and now my 14 SG, and the essential experience of riding the bikes is the same. Not a big deal. If guys are exclaiming that their new bikes are the Best Ever or that they Love the bikes, well for Christ's sake Be Happy For Them! For many of us, the dream of owning a new Harley just happened, and our time in the vast history of the Universe happened to be 2014. So, rejoice for your Brothers who just landed themselves a 2014 HD and think it's the best bike they've owned.
Like I said, I really hope you were just kidding.
I'm not kidding at all, you being new here should use the search option and type in "2014 best bike ever" or "I love my 2014 this or that" and you be the judge. No other group of owners has gone to this extent to get their message out about how glorious their latest Harley purchase has been. Since I buy a new bike every two years or so I too will be joining the ranks of the Elite Rushmore group some day but I can assure you I won't be on here saying how great it is or how much I love it even if it is the " The Best Bike I Ever Owned".
Here are some sample topics in the new and improved Rushmore section:
Pulled the trigger and bought a '14 Limited!
Pulled the trigger and bought a '14 Street Glide Special!
Went to the dealer to buy a light bulb and bought a '14 Street Glide Special!
What color should I get my new '14 Limited?
Thinking of pulling the trigger, what should I get, a '14 SGS or Limited?
Love my '14 Limited, best bike ever!
Just picked up my '14 SGS, should I get matching boots?
Got a '14 Limited and want to program 55 routes, 1000 songs, be able to voice text while riding and have the infotainment system answer and stores calls for me automatically while I drink from my big mug attached to the apehangers I just put on. What do I need to do?
Well Done, this pretty much sums it up and why I haven't been on as much lately. Like I said I'm really happy about the new Rushmore section, they can all bask in their glory together and we can get back to useful and intelligent reading.
For anyone not noticing, Administrator Terry has created a new subsection off the Touring section of the Forum, it's titled "New Rushmore Models". Hopefully it will allow us Rushmore folks to learn a little more (both good AND bad) about our bikes without some of the negativity of the pre-2014 crowd. Please feel free to post your Rushmore comments in this section...and thanks to Terry!
I've always promoted inclusivity as opposed to exclusivity but this idea was probably warranted. Too many envious asshats out there offering useless rhetoric as opposed to constructive suggestions.
Good for you Terry and thank you from a "Wethead" owner!
Since you addressed me I'll respond although I really don't understand most of your post...
Special Status? It's a new bike with it's own particular problems, why shouldn't they be discussed in their own area, are you saying because we have the newer bikes we have "special status"?
"a sticky"? I don't understand your point.
I'm glad (I guess) you live where you live although again I don't understand your point.
"folks like me"? I've never been to Sturgis and have no plans to go there. I'd like to ride the area as I hear you have some beautiful riding roads there but that's it for me, no bar posing, just riding.
If you say people that go to Sturgis are "pompous asses", I'll take you at your word, again, I've never been (and will never be) there.
"...stay home" ?????
Maybe you should lighten up a bit, it's just a section for the newer bikes, nothing else. And it's open to comments from all, I'm sure when you or anyone else enters the market for a new bike it will be very helpful going to this section for info.
I belong to a Corvette Forum and when Chevrolet introduced the next generation Vette late last year, they got their own C7 section in that Forum, I don't remember anyone calling them elitist or pompous. It was just a new car with it's own issues and most people appreciated the fact that these issues were being addressed in their own section. Same here with the Rushmore models, nothing else...
You hit it on the head NY Rob. I could give a rat's *** about the posers that what to show rather than go, but I will appreciate having a section that deals with real issues as opposed to envious bantering. Insofar as Sturgis; I have never been either but do intend to ride the Black Hills area one day either prior to or after Sturgis simply because its supposed to be spectacular riding. I think winter is starting to make all of us a little chippy. Think SPRING everyone!
I can't believe the amount of crying here - seriously people I thought we were bikers not a bunch of high school girls! Who gives a s#!t that there is a different section for Rushmore bikes! You guys really this bored????
yes after many threads about doing this were deleted.............suddenly, what a great idea by the mods...go figure. what do us low life board members know!!!!

Yes and never before has the MOCO in it's history made as many changes in a single years time than it did for the 14 Rushmore models. Maybe that warrants just a little bit of a good feeling for it's owners...Take a break.
Adding the new forum is a natural progression of being more efficient. The rushmores are so different from the other touring bikes that their threads rarely apply to the rest of the list. My only concern is the mods being reactionary and moving all 2014 discussions out of the touring forum. Sometimes folks want the attention of a bigger list and purposely goto the general touring forum. We are left up to the mods to make that decision and my experience here is not very good. We will see.
