I did a search but did not find the answer. I have a 2013 FLHX and want to install the HD cruise control kit myself. It looks like I am not sure if the dealership will need to enable the ECU or not requiring me to take it to them for the final step. Does anyone know if there is an update to enable this or not? The instructions state '21. Refer to the DIGITAL TECHNICIAN or the Touring models
electrical diagnostic manual to verify the cruise control
function on the vehicle ECM'. How do I verify this?
Thanks in advance!
I am fairly confident you will need someone with a DT to enable the cruise. Personally I would do the physical install and check it. If it works then you are done. If not take it in and have it flashed.

Exactly what I was thinking. At least I save the labor for the installation and just pay for the DT enabling. Thanks for your response!
Did the HD Cruise install on my 2012 when I bought it last year. Did a bunch of forums searches and saw some who installed and didn't need to have the dealer turn it on, many did. I had to pay my dealer one hour labor to turn mine on. Install pretty straight forward. Well worth the money and the effort.
When I installed mine the local dealer did the flash for free???
My dealer sucks. May be because I have never bought a bike from them, almost no money spent in service department, and don't buy nothing but emergency needs parts from them. I bet Latus or Kutters would have done mine for free, but shipping would have been a bitch.

I bought 2 bikes from my dealer AND they dropped my 2013 FLHX on its side. They made good on all new parts but told me they would comp a few things in the future. Im thinking Ill cash in a bit of that if I need the flash done.
