Sg inner and outer fairing not mating up?

Sg inner and outer fairing not mating up?
I've had my sg apart for various reasons over the winter and I've noticed now that my outer faring isn't mating up properly with the inner fairing. It's only at the bottom on the cigarette lighter side. On the bottom beneath the lighter plug the inner fairing should slip in the outer fairing and sit flush so to speak. It mates up perfect on the brake lever side but on the clutch side it doesn't go in all the way? About half of the rubber molding only at the very bottom is exposed? It can be pressed together for the most part but just flexes back out. I've tried making adjustments to the chrome skirt under the headlight, I've played with where the fairing support brackets bolt to the triple trees also. Not sure where the problem is coming from? Anyone else been down this road?

Something is in the way behind faring push everything gently in wiring harness etc don't break anything check all around inside and outside you may have stripped the brass insert and the bolt is not going in all the way....Don't ask me how I know easy fix only cost about a buck Joe
