i put my radio in bout 4 years ago and I remember have a REAL hard time getting to those allen bolts that hold it in...I don't even remember how I managed to get them in...lol it didn't happen without ALOT of swearing I can tell you that
If it mounts like a stock Streetglide radio, the trick is using a ball end allen wrench...
I don't know how a Street Glide radio mounts. only one I've messed with is mine. Its a BikeTronics kit. guess I'll pick back up on it in the morning and see how it goes. thanks guys.
I see the bolts on sides of inner fairing...was thinking they were ones to loosen to flip inner fairing up....I'm guessing the lighter assembly will have to come out for that?
Those are the bolts before ya roll forward put one back in on either side as a pivot. Don't allow it to fall to far forward as your ignition switch wires will be first thing to grab. Lighter stays put.
thanks . I will try that tomorrow. see your from Jersey. I'm a relocated Jersey boy myself. only been in IL for bout 6 years now. I miss pork roll and GOOD bagels the most..lol
I pulled the radio and tipped the fairing. I don't get how you just tip it like the video. I had to pull bolts lift it up and tip mine. No idea how people can just tip it and pivot on bolt. But overall still pretty simple.
ok..thanks. I probably gave in too easy..I was tired. will start back fresh tomorrow. hope to get it ALL done tomorrow. have to work Fri..Sat Sunday and I'm leaving for Daytona on Tuesday....nothing like some pressure...lol
OP....there is no need to pull the radio. Take out the 2 bolts on the sides of the forks. If it's a SG it's the bolts that hold the front blinkers on. If it's an Ultra they hold on the spot bracket. Once you've got the bolts out take a flat head screwdriver and stick it between the fairing brackets and the forks and pry outward just a little and push forward on the inner fairing. Do that on both sides and it'll rotate forward out of your way. There is no need to put a bolt in it to rotate on like in the video, it's only gonna go forward so far. And No, springing the bracket out a little to rotate the fairing won't hurt a thing. Cover you tank and fender and get busy.
