OP....there is no need to pull the radio. Take out the 2 bolts on the sides of the forks. If it's a SG it's the bolts that hold the front blinkers on. If it's an Ultra they hold on the spot bracket. Once you've got the bolts out take a flat head screwdriver and stick it between the fairing brackets and the forks and pry outward just a little and push forward on the inner fairing. Do that on both sides and it'll rotate forward out of your way. There is no need to put a bolt in it to rotate on like in the video, it's only gonna go forward so far. And No, springing the bracket out a little to rotate the fairing won't hurt a thing. Cover you tank and fender and get busy.

well thats the step I missed I guess, was afraid to pry the bracket so I lifted then tilted.

Subscribed. That's what I like about this forum, everyone finds an easier way to do things. I asked my local Indy if there was a way to push the fairing forward, as seen in the LA Choppers video, his reply was no. Simply take the radio out. Think I'll do my own ape bars. Yaffe 10 inch.

Let me clarify the the ignition switch and cover must be removed before you can push the fairing forward.

Great timing for this thread, I've got a set of new bars waiting on me in my garage. I have to extend some wiring too I think so I'll have to figure that out too. I got the +2 +2 sweepers.

I've done this twice now. Both times I removed the radio. Nothing about removing the radio is difficult, but you do need a ball-end. I've seen video's on tilting the fairing. Probably 6 of one half-dozen of the other. I'm about to do the job a third time b/c of a TBW issue. Maybe I'll try the tilt this time.

well...after a trip to town to find a 3/16 ball allen wrench..yes was very easy...lol now. old bars off...wires-switches off...now the fun part....maybe I should have never attempted this mess....lol

to get the TBW harness out of old bars you have to push wires thru plug with paper clip?
