Looking for some advice. I have a 1993 FLHS Electra Glide Sport. am thinking of changing out the fuel tank and putting on split 3.5 gallon tanks (total of 7 gals). Does anybody know if this is possible without a lot of frame modifications? Help Guys.

If I'm right your bike comes with a single tank, the dual tank has the rear hanger and a gap cover. Your frame is not round it's square. You'll need a mounting kit for the tanks.

I had a 1987 FLH that I put a newer one piece tank onto. Can't remember what year tank it was, but it was when HD went back to the fat bob one piece tank. I think you'd be better off going that route for the fat bob look than trying to mod a 2 PC tank on, jmho.

Sounds like you need to call Roland Sands or Arlen Ness to get one built for you

1990 FLHS here, owned from new. I have a recent 6 gallon one-piece tank on my bike. If you want even bigger, or the style that twin tanks gives, you may need to check out the likes of JP Cycles, for the options that will fit. I don't see the point of modifying the frame to install a gas tank, there must be something out there that can be made to fit. HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal makes a 7 gallon one-piece tank that should work, but be warned, these things can be darned expensive!

If you have a specific pair of tanks in mind, let us know what they are.

Planning to change the tank out for these.and to move speedo and tach to the tank.....split 3.5's. I really hate that gauge pod thing. Paint has to be done all over again of course.

The frame has that large, square backbone. Split tanks would be a ton of work if you could. You also wouldn't have the same capticity as a single tank.

Why not get a Road King tank?

Hi, I just bought a 1987 FLHS and want to do the same, splitted tanks with the speedometer in the tank. I want to know if it will be a big project, or if some one else do this job in their bike. Thanks

I had a 93 flus. Put road king tank and head light nacelle on it. Moved the circuit breakers from under speedo/tach to under left side cover. Also had to install a speedo signal converter for new tank mounted speedo. My advice to you is to keep the bike the way it is and learn to love it or sell it and buy a road king. It’s gonna be about the same cost either way you go. That’s what I’d do if I had it to do over again.
