Default New Slipons

I had mufflers like freedom performance on but just bought Vance and Hines 4" Twin slash rounds and can't wait to get them. Sorry can't remember name of my old ones. Anyway I never put any liquid in them going into the head pipe. Anyone else put anything there or just bolt them on and clamp them tight?

not sure what oyur talking about... are you saying something ot lubricate the pipes to slide easier? if so then no i have never used anything like that. just unbolt and install new ones. recheck the tightness after a short ride

I put a thin coat of this stuff on the inside of the muffler before I install.

Not necessary I suppose. I think lots of people just clamp them up bare.

No Loctite and no sealer. Just a new stock conical gasket and the torque wrench. That's my Rx..

I didn't use anything when I installed mine, remove, replace easy peasy. Recheck after a couple of rides to make sure everything is still tight.

I just put a set of Rinehart's on my SGS and the instructions said to add a bead of the copper hi-temp stuff around the necks before slipping them into the headpipes. I've never done that before (and I didn't this time either) but I guess it would help seal it a bit better. Never really had problems with it leaking though.

I have always used high temp copper anti seize. Not so much to make sure there is a good seal but to make it easier to remove them when needed. On my first bike many years ago, I went to remove the mufflers after about 20k and I can tell you it was a b**ch! Used anti seize ever since.
