A friend of mine was staying at the Grand Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. He parked his 2010 limited in the motorcycle parking area in the hotel garage. Sure enough in the morning his saddle bags were gone. The bike is blue on black. If anyone is cruising eBay or Craigslist and comes across blue on black saddle bags let me know please. There is little hope of recovering them but worth a try..
Curious if he had the stock pins securing the bags and something more secure? Thieves have learned that the stock pins are a joke and can get them off in about 30 seconds. Vegas is a high theft area for this...
Not saying that thieves are smart, but SOP for most pros seems to be wait a month or two, then sell via ebay or out-of-town. Of course, if the bags are black, red, ect, they are going to be nearly impossible to identify.
I've been thinking about replacing my pins with bolts, and this may very well be my first project this spring!
Curious to know if the 2014 bags still use this same method to attach... does anyone know?

2014 bags are inherently more secure; new brackets that 'block' access to the pin. Like anything though, if there's a will, there's a way.
If I lock my bags, you cant get to the pins unless you defeat the lock and open the bag. is this not the case for all the bags? or was there a change in 2014?

on the earlier bikes (2013 back) even if the bags are locked, you can get to the backside of the pins with a screwdriver and pop them off of the wire on the bracket.
