Default Rear Highway Bar install...

Hey guys! Have a question about installing rear highway bars on my '04 King Custom. It does have the bar the goes underneath the leather saddle bags. Looks like a support bar im guessing? Does this just get removed when i install the rear highway bars or will it stay along with the rear bars??

Dave...

If you order them from HD, I believe they come with new bag support rails that fit.into the crash guard. The original rails have to be removed since they use the same lower mounting point.I could be mistaken though.

I just went the opposite way on my 03 RK classic. I bought lower brackets that go on to eliminate the rear bag guards. Yours may have brackets like I just bought and installed on mine. The lower point of the bracket (for the crash bars)attaches with a nut and bolt. The upper bolt was a torx bolt into the frame under the seat and then the bag support bar will get bolted into it to support the front part of the bag support. It slides in place and has a 1/4" bolt that runs thru the holes that line up...I have my old guards if you are interested. They are basically mint...
