This new model looks very interesting. They are incorporating these into the Danny Grey seats now. Wonder if a good upholster couldn't put one inside a stock seat???

You might want to get a hold of Alligator Bob in Illinois or the guys down at Mean City Cycle in North Carolina about getting either "proform" or "Gel" (depending on your preference) installed on your seat. The proform is what they use in wheelchair applications with ppl that have to seat for extended periods of time. JMHO.

I'm 53,repaired heavy eguipmet for 7 years (often swinging a 20 pounder) in my 20's,then rigged swing staging on (and in tanks) ships/water towers often carrying 100lb's.+ while doing a "balancing act" walking I-beams and/or structure from 6"-2' wide anywhere from 6'-150' up,then to sandblast and paint it..Last 20 years marina work-blocking/moving/transporting boats and yachts (blocking one/carrying gunnage is what got me now).Man I really appreciate all the input-really have absorbed sound advice from like individuals.Thankyou,thankyou........

Default Inversion Table and Mini Apes

I may go months between flare ups but it will flare up occasionally and unexpectedly and can linger for months. For the bike, 10" mini apes on my road king helped a lot. At home the inversion table was a godsend. I was too lazy to keep up the stretching exercises but always find time to flip upside down for a few minutes. Keeps the spine stretched out and provides relief when a flare up occurs. Booze also provides temporary relief, at home of course......

Nothing you do to yourself will help if your riding position ain't right. Bars, backrest, boards, pegs, seat... They all matter. Get it right or sell your ride. Good luck.

I am here to tell you that my relief was immediate after just hanging upside down for a minute or so. I actually heard a slight pop as i was hanging and immediately felt relief.....Its been almost 3 years now and i can honestly tell you the inversion table is the BEST 95 dollar investment i have ever made. I typically use it just 3 or 4 times a week for just a few minutes and it really works wonders for my back. There have been times my lower back has tightened up on me at work, and when i get home i just get on the inversion table for a minute or 2 and the tightness is gone.........I recommend it for anyone who has lower back issues, and you do not need to buy one of those real expensive TV infomercial ones in my view........Best 95 bucks i ever spent !...............PS,i ride from Florida to Jersey twice a year and have not had any lower back issues to speak of.
+1000 I've been using inversion therapy for years now, with great results. I don't have sciatica, or maybe I do, don't know. Never seen a doctor about my back, just a chiropractor, but I haven't even visited one of those since the 15+ years that I started doing inversion. It works!! I use boots instead of a table, and on the rare occasion where I had a real stubborn vertebra out of position, I put myself in traction. I'll set a 25lb. weight plate below where my head will be positioned, and when I'm inverted, I'll hook my fingers under the plate and lift it off the ground. That extra weight has always corrected my spine. Give inversion a try at least. You may be surprised!

Lots of good advice here. A few years ago just as I was about to pull the trigger on a new ride I hurt my back. I went to the doc and was pretty messed up and after PT they wanted to fuse my spine. I found a good massage therapist and he along with a chiropractor have worked wonders. A GOOD massage therapist can do a lot of things but it takes a few visits. You can't tell much by one visit and may feel worse for a few days after. Now the therapist I went to didn't tell me this, like he was trying to sell me something, a friend who's a therapist in New York did and in New York unlike in some states you have to go to school for a few years just to be a therapist.

At any rate after a few visits I started feeling better. I still have pain from time to time but so far nothing too bad. Recently I hurt my shoulder(s). In fact I've been slowly shredding them, unbeknownst to me the last few years. They also helped with that. I'm not saying massage therapy is a miracle cure but at the very least it should make you feel somewhat better.

As far as inversion therapy, I've looked into it and it looks to me like it'd work but I'm a big guy with an artificial hip so I'm kinda leery about hanging upside down. I've seen chairs that offer some of the same effect which I've been thinking of trying.

As far as the bike. I agree with what others have said especially the back rest. +1000 on the back rest, I wouldn't leave home with out it!

The AirHawk is a rubber air bladder inside of a protective heavy cloth zipper enclosure. It also has a air valve that comes out the back so that you may regulate the air up and down. I have the latest model that is designed to take pressure off the lower spine. I don't think it would function inside a seat as it is designed to be at different levels of inflation. The bike seats that have the gel and other items in them are not good enough to give me any relief. I have tried them. This product is used by people who are in Wheelchairs and it has been used by the Wounded Warriors Program. My back is very severe in the damage it has and I can say that this product is the only thing that has given me relief. Best of Health To YÁLL Fairshake
