Default 2011 w/ 40k miles
Is buying a Road King from a Harley rental place a good idea? I'm looking at a 2011 Road King with 40k Miles for 12k. Is this a good deal or what? Love to hear from you guys that have a RK with a lot of miles or have an opinion on this deal. Thanks to anyone who can add to this.

Forgot to mention on that post that I have a 2000 Dyna Glide and if I dont' get what I want for trade in value to buy said RK, then I'll just keep my FXD and put some leather bags on it and ride it. I've only got 14k miles on it. Great bike but I love the RK's too. Any thoughts?

All i can say is i know how i ride and drive rentals, i wouldn't buy one based on how i abuse them.

If it was an HD rental, it probably was taken care of. I bought one of these and I'm very happy with mine. Put it this way, if it didn't have 40K miles it would be how much more expensive? Could there be that much wrong with it that this cost won't cover? It's still eligible for the ESP so you may want to think about that if you're worried about it. 40K isn't too many miles...doesn't sound like you ride much. I'd do it.

Bad deal. My local dealer has a 2013 RK leftover for 16K.

I would guess you are in the vast minority there.

If someone wants a bike to beat on, a Harley would not be 1st choice. Most people rent them for a nice ride while on vacation.

with 40,000 miles odds are one of the vast MINORITY got on that bike.

Rental outfits, like dealers are in to make a buck. Much better deals in the private market.
