Default Need help with dash/ wiring

2010 Street Glide

The PO had installed a IPod cable going from the throttle location, down the bar and into the lower dash, thne it comes out just below the radio and plugs into the Aux . I want to replace it with a standard 1mm pin type cable.

It looks like I have to remove the lower dash cover to get to this area. I have removed a screw on each side of the cover but it isnt coming off yet. Do I have to remove the ignition switch to remove this cover? The cover I'm referring to is the one that has the cruise switch and the acc switch mounted to it.

Thanks for the help
Rick

RickK,

Think about removing the OUTTER cover.

remove 3 screws and windscreen

REPLACE center screw lightly

Pick a nice soft spot to lay down the fairing, towel on bench, whatever
IF you have spot lights, cover with tube socks

remove screws from fairing inner

now you just have the 1 center screw you put back in, remove that while supporting the fairing...pull back slightly, reach in with 1 hand and pull headlight plug

fairing shell is now free

easy.

most of these things you can find a video on youtube.

pulling the ign. switch can be a pitfall for some riders who try shortcuts.
