What should have been an easy install turned into a PITA real quick. One turn on the left mounting screw for the new tail light and it pulled the pressed in knurled nut right out of the base housing.
I did my best to press it back in along with some adhesive, but not sure it's going to hold. Any suggestions? Already have on list getting another base housing.
seems like you have tried every thing , just hope you get the replacement it before riding season , might be to late but if it is a HD part did you try taking it back as defective , put mine in with no problems
If it doesn't hold I'll take the base into Vandervest's here in GB and see if they can help. Can't be the first time this has happened.
Bad part (at least from my perspective) everything was lined up, it was just one turn of the screwdriver .. no forcing, nothing extra ... oh well, world ain't going to end, some options to repair and get new tail light installed
Same thing happened to me but was an easy fix. Clean the knurled nut and apply a couple drops of Gorilla Glue. Press into place and let set for about 15 minutes and should be ready to go.
