I am looking at buying an 07 Road King Classic. Should I expect to pay MSRP?

I'd say yes, MSRP is very common now, haven't heard much about below that.

Yes.I have been shopingas well. You should not pay over MSRP. You can get a deal at the end of the summer if you want to pick through the leftovers once the new model year is released. The problem is colors may be limited.

Essentially, yes. Minus your choice of things that add up to maybe $1000 - $2000.

Here are some things you can use for negotiation (MSRP minus one or more of the following throw-in's):

Freight and prep charges
Riders Edge Class
Labor to install accessories at time of purchase
Some accessories or motorclothes
Discount on big bore kit (installed)
Extended warranty
1000 mile service

The nice thing about these discounts is that the dealer is looking at their costs, while you are looking at what the things would cost you, so the dealer can throw in maybe $800 at their cost, while you get what you perceive is $1500 in discounts.

Good luck, and I hope you get a deal that satisfies you. That's all that matters.

I just bought a 07 Softail Classic. They took $250 off MSRP and gave a $500 gift card to use at the store.I felt it was a pretty fair deal b/cthe other HD dealer wanted MSRP and would give me nothing.

Just don't buy in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Myself and two friends went in and wrote deals on factory orders for my SG, one Duece, and one 1200 Low on January 19/07. Dealers tells the other two last week that there has been a price increase of about 1 1/5% (new MSRP as of this Tuesday), and that it applies to our orders. WTF???? We got only MSRP, $1000 worth of parts/service, and 10% off all parts in the future. We weren't real thrilled, but we signed the deals. Now the dealer is upping the price about $400 - $500 per bike after the fact. If you can get MSRP, take it. There's no Canadian that can beat that deal now.

HD dealers are pretty independent year round. They figure they don't NEED your money.
There is always another "fool" coming in.
One thing that might work is show up with GREEN CASH!
They can "hide" that in the books.
But loans and certified checks are harder.
Request or DEMAND to talk to owner.
Give him the fair"price" you are willing to pay out the door
(document fees and such are just bull crap).
then start laying down $100 or $1000 bills.
Stop when you hit your limit.
If he doesn't agree, then gather it all up and say good day!
And start walking, there is always anoher dealer.
Bet you don't make it out the door.
Funny how CASH talks louder than a check or a loan!

I think you should pay list... plus a tip ! After all they are doing you a favor. Then offer to give them $350 for a gallon of their special bulk oil. ( after 1000 miles ) In two years bring it back to trade for half value. Don't forget to finance it for twice the going rate. The economy needs your contribution !!

bwahahaha.....
that don't work in my neck of the woods. course, we don't have a glut of dealers around also. there are 2 dealers by me, 1 is 60 miles away, the other 120. and not in the same direction either. i have purchased 3 bikes from the 1 dealer that is 120 miles away, and gotten what i consider to be fair treatment. but, they do not negotiate on prep, delivery, etc. (they don't mark those items up either). i would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. good folks.
