Did the chrome rim exchange on e-bay for my 2013 street glide. Chrome is awesome and also had them install the bearings. Back wheel is fine but front pulsates when applying front brake. Got new aftermarket rotors but didnt change brake pads because only have 2600 miles on bike. No vibration or anything when riding, just when using front brake. These rotors are brand new, dont think they would be warped. If they installed the wrong bearings would it vibrate when riding or just when using brakes? Would changing brake pads do any good? Never had a problem before. Anyone have this problem after their rim or rotor change? Thanks guys.
If you have ABS brakes the bearing on the left side is yellow looking the other one is black.
May just need brake in a little. When the front tire is off the ground, should spin free for a circle or more. About half art doing the wheel put on.
I had the same thing happen when I put a new PM front wheel and PM rotor on my Heritage. Still does it. It's not bad, but noticeable. Personally I think the rotor is slightly warped. I just ride it.
Only cause for pulsating when applying the brakes is a warped rotor(s). Jack it up, spin the front wheel to ensure it spins straight and on its own. If it does, listen carefully to you callipers as the front wheel turns to see if your brakes pads are rubbing evenly on the rotors. They should rub ever so slightly, and evenly, if all is well. If you hear an uneven sound, then there is a problem with your new rotors, which is not out of the realm of possibility. By the way, what aftermarket rotors do you have.
It could be the chrome build up on the surface that the stock wheel that is causing the rotor to not sit flat, or the rotors could be warped or a combination of both.
You can also try turning the rotors to see if that helps. We put wheels with rotors on a truing stand and check the runout and quite often they have to be tweaked into spec which is .008". Rarely do the rotors measure .000".
