Just wondering or looking for opinions on an install time for the Hogtunes Amp & Speakers on a Road Glide. It's got the additional adapter mount for it. My radio on my new 06 just bit the bullet and I've got to take it to the dealer this week for repair/replacement. Since the fairing will be off and they'll be removing the radio etc., I figured I'd have them just go ahead and change out my speakers and install the amp. I can't see the speakers taking any longer than 30 minutes to install two front speakers. Just wondering about the amp.
All in all, what kind of time frame would be realistic for the install? I am not going to have to pay to remove the fairing since they've already go to take it apart for the radio under warranty. Maybe the radio dying on me is a blessing in disguise so I won't have to deal with removing the fairing.
No, there is more involved here. The road glide requires amounting plate for the amp. It bolts to the fairing mounting and is to the bike's right of the radio. Still it only took me about half an hour to install the amp.
Make sure you have all the needed parts to do this install before taking your bike in. If in doubt contact Pez.
I can still see the dealer charging 2+ hours for that part of the install.
I'm not sure I would have a dealer mechanic install some custom stereo equipment. Speakers they should have no problem with (just a few screws and connectors), but an amp? They aren't stereo specialists! I'd either do it yourself or take it to a car stereo shop if you're going to pay someone for something like that.
I have an 05 EG Standard, and had my stereo installed (speakers and receiver, hidden antenna) by Audio Express. I was originally going to do it myself, and went in to get the receiver (already bought the speakers and antenna, but since I've had all my cars done there and know the owner, I get a better deal on radios). Well the guy I was talking do offered, and since he had installed custom stereos into other Glides (and had pics of the work he had done!), I went ahead and let him do it. Only cost me $50 over the cost of the stereo, took him about two hours for everything.

Which location is that and what is the tech's name? I might just have to go spend some money on him .
Thanks, I've got all of the proper parts. I purchased everything from Pez. I am going to read over everything and see just how much of a job it is. Since the fairing is going to be off at HDs expense, I was hoping if it's about an hour total to have the dealer just put it in.
