I'm looking to upgrade the front and rear shocks on my 09 FLHX. Read many good this about Progressive monotubes and 944s. One thing one the 944s is that it says they sit 1" lower. Is this only an aesthetic thing and will I need to lower the front to "match"? What's the reason sitting 1" lower is one of their selling points?
I never had a pair of 944's
The 944 get great reviews as they are better than stock and 50-60% cost of the best shocks.
The one inch may be a similar to the JRI 13B shocks I have that measure 13" eye to eye extended, then when set for rebound 1" or so is within the shock length.
Your SG already is 1" lower in the rear so the 944s would sit the same. Yes, it is for looks. I am no fan of lowering, Harleys have little suspension travel and/or lean angle to begin with. I would recommend ya call Motorcycle Metal and ask about JRI/Ohline shocks and front end mods.

My recommendation as well. Howard there will supply you with shocks pre-installed with the correct spring rate and offer a variety of options on top, plus a range of price breaks, to suit every pocket!

Any and all input appreciated.
Thanks guys.
I don't have anything relevant to report, but why do you have a Jayhawks avatar when you are so close to Iowa City!

Kind of a long story...short version is I grew up in Iowa, graduated from UofI (all while hating the Jayhawks for taking our good players)....job carried me to Lawrence, KS for awhile and it was IMPOSSIBLE not to become a Jayhawk...fast forward another several years and job brought me back to the ol' stomping grounds...still a Hawkeye first.
by the way...thanks for the heads up..needed to change where I'm from...one small town to another.
