The is GOOD news for anyone who owns a Harley. The higher the prices the better resale is on used ones. This is why I got far more than I should have on an FXR in the 90's and why I sold it on the street to someone from Sweden who made a cash offer on the spot. Went home got the title, We went to my bank and it was done.
I did not know that morning I would be without a bike that night... He shipped it back to Sweden.
Crazy days. I went to LV Harley thinking I could buy another bike. LV Harley was empty. People were waiting six months for an ordered bikes and LV Harley would throw $2000 extras on it and tell the buyers to "take it or leave it" Very bad business. I disliked Harley for that and swore for years I would never buy another.
But thats when I went to the PowerSports Store in Vegas and saw a turquoise and white two tone used VT1100C with 5K miles and Bought it and stayed with those 1100s until 2008. Rode that bike cross country.
I would love to see HD raise prices again. Hmmm how about $25K for an FLHR.......LOL
This is Harley's top of the line model, and of course it cost the most.
You are comparing it to a run of the mill, lower end Lexus. A top of the line Lexus (LF-A) cost over $400,000. Makes the Harley seem pretty reasonable.
If you want the best, you gotta pay. If you are able to settle for something less, you pay less too. Dad use to call this Champagne taste on a beer budget.

+1!! My HD isn't the most expensive thing in my garage. My BMW 750Li is. Sometimes it just depends on the individual and what they/we are willing to pay. I wouldn't pay $42K for a HD, but I would pay way more than that for a car that I truly love, evidently. Guess BMW saw me coming and "took me for a ride" but I'm sure loving how it feels. At the end of the day, ppl think others are silly for their purchases everyday. To some, I'm stupid to pay that much for a car, a stupid price for a motorcycle (to those who don't ride or understand the passion of riding), an ignorant price for my bicycle/road-racing bike (to those who don't ride)...and not to mention those golf clubs in my garage. What's stupid to me is when your toys are valued more than your home.
My Dad used to say that when he was upset.......always wondered what the H stood for?
To the point, I'm like everyone else.....someone will spend the money. HD is not stupid they been in business for awhile they know someone WILL buy it! Just not me
