Default 12" or 13" rear shocks

Is there that much of a difference in the 12" vs the 13" rear shocks? Will the 13" raise the rear of the bike an 1". I'm shopping for rear shocks and trying to decide on what to get. I have called "Howard", he wants a build sheet before he will give me a for sure price. I do see that Fuelmoto offers Ohlins at a decent price. I'm looking at JRI's or Ohlins or Progressive 444's.

2010 Streetglide, Progressive monotudes with 1" lowering.

thanks your your input.

I went with 13.25" Ohlins. I hated the 12" airshocks. Got my Ohlins from Howard. I would use him again as I love how he valved my shocks and I don't know what stack Ohlins puts in the ones Fuel Moto sells. Maybe they are great but I know for a fact Howard got mine dead on.

Maybe I am crazy but I want all the suspension movement I can have so unless there is a real great reason to run a shorter shock on a bagger I will say get the longest ones you can.

12" looks better (especially on a Street Glide) and allows more people to put their feet flat on the ground.

13" rides better with more travel, but you give up the look, and the easy touch down.

A lighter Street Glide will need less shock than an Ultra with it's heavy Tour Pak. Filling up a tour pack will compress the spring an inch, and you get similar travel to a unladend Street Glide.

Riding two up will want more spring than riding single. Lots of variables.

The better shocks tend to be more expensive. Stock shocks are good enough for many.

Howard listens to what your needs are, and builds the shocks accordingly, gives discount prices and great customer service to help you install and set them up for best results.

The Rushmore front and rear shocks are better and easier to adjust than previous models. One rear shock works for compression and the other for rebound. No shock air pump needed either.

About 3/4" difference in the seat, which matters a lot to a short legged smurf like me.

But good lord how the suspension crashes with the short shocks. Hopefully I'll finally find the perfect pressure/oil combo for the short shocks. The latest mix is working well with the 13" shocks...hope!

A 13" in Ohlins or JRi will sit the same as the 12" stock shocks because you set them up with 1" of sag , I run 12" JRi B's and love them

I am 5'6" with 30" inseam, and to me, big difference. I have the progressive 944's (12" height, 13" travel) - and I love them!!!!

This is the first thing Howard tells you when you discuss your options. He is 100% right. After you sit on it my bike sits 1" lower than HD 13" air shocks with his 13" shocks and the proper sag set. Worth all the money.

I have the HD Premium 13" hand adjustable shocks on my 13' RG and they work good.

I'm 6'5"...and a svelt 325lbs and bottomed out once on a crater !! May eventually go to Ohlin's but for now I don't see a reason to spend the extra $400+.

Got my shocks @ Kutter HD...$379 shipped.
