Had a b**ch of a time removing the torx bolts off my rear rotor. Ruined one torx socket and took 2hrs. Anyone know the size and thread so I can get some different head grade 8 bolts for that moronic torx. Thanks!!!!( I posted this in wheels tires too but more folks usually on this forum)
First off be sure you use a good quality bit. Snap On has the best and I have tried them all. Trust me on this one. The lock patch they use is equilelant to red locktite which most of the time requires heat before you remove them. Another trick is to use a long handled ratchet on your bit socket, it will give more leverage and a smoother pull on the bolt.
Thanks for the responses. I did use impact socket. I did heat tnem up and I will be purchasing a snap on socket. I will not reuse torx bolts there. So......does anyone know the size and thread for those?
Thanks again.
i don't usually have too much of a problem if i heat them up enough. i use a heat shrink air gun and when i think i've heated it up enough, i do an extra 15 seconds or so. without heat, i've broken torx bits. with heat, they come right out with a breaker bar.
