Default Cam Install

So I helped my buddy on sat with a cam install. I knew these bikes were pretty easy to work on as i have been doing the service to mine. But i didnt realize how easy it really is. Some research and the service manual and anyone can do this. The only thing he has left is to get it on the Dyno. But man it sounds good and ran good!

Was it tricky getting the adjustable push rods installed?

The first one was a bit, but after that it was a breeze. Just take your time and get impatient!

I agree...

anyone who can disassemble/re-assemble a 1-1/2HP B&S, can do the same with these bikes. People often forget that most of the technology was invented in a barn, with little more than a handful of basic hand tools. Even the transmission is just a simple, multi-speed, oil splashed gear box. IMHO, aside from the electronics, they are still just as simple.

Cant remember the year of the top of my head, but it is a earlier streetglide. We put in a wood tw-222 cam, wood directional lifters and fuel motor adjustable pushrods.

I'm going with this set up over the weekend as well. Was it tough removing the exhaust?

The exhaust is easy to remove, much harder to put back together! Not really hard just time consuming.

I just put the 57H in mine. It was easier than I had thought. After watching a couple of videos on line and having the manual, it actually went pretty smooth. I ended up with all new components in the cam chest, cams, bearings, oil pump, cam plate, lifters and pushrods.

You may want to buy new exhaust gaskets. I have reused but its good having new just in case the old ones get buggered.
