You sound a lot like me with your physical size (heavier actually), ride 2-up with a similar riding style. I did a lot of research and am more than 1000% happy with my cam choice of the Andrews 21. I also added the adjustable push rods and the SE Hydraulic upgrade.

Super strong pull right from the get go with this cam. Excellent passing and uphill power. This is a cam that improves 95% of our everyday riding experience. I would marry it if I could! lol

I like Pumba11 have a 99 with carb, I have a S&S 97 inch big bore kit in mine and went with SE 204 cams, of all the cams I tried I like them the best. I am 5' 7" 195lbs, with your set up I would have to agree with Pumba11 that the Andrews 21 or maybe the 26 would be better for you, the SE 204's move the power a little more to the right then the Andrews 21's

What you may find is that you get as many suggestions as replies and that "everybody has a different opinion"! However the Andrews 21 gets a lot of support. Also call in the Tech Engine section, as there is plenty of cam stuff over there.

Yes, either the Andrews 21 or the Andrews 26.

The 21 gets a lot of support in the Softail section as well. My research has shown that the Andrews 26 was a favorite amongst tourers who carry more weight and ride two up more often. From what I read though, either would be a great improvement.

Personally, I'm doing an Andrews 21N (conversion cam) on my 2006 Softail. This will allow me to upgrade to 2007+ cam chest parts. If I had a bike like yours, I'd have gone with the Andrews 26N along with all 2007+ parts (oil pump, cam support plate, inner bearings, hydraulic tensioners, etc.

Also, something to consider is the heavier weight of adjustable pushrods. I'm personally not a fan of anything adjustable in the valve train, so for me, it was all through the top end. It's really not that bad to pull the rocker covers, rocker assemblies, and remove the pushrods.

Just a thought...

I would go gear drive on a 99, no more tensioners to worry about and you will never have to mess with it again, on newer bikes with the cheaper cranks that have runout issues I would do the hyd upgrade, just my .02.....

I have the SE 204, it is my favorite of all the cams I have tried, but with what he is doing and weight he is hauling the 21 is probably the best for him, just my .02

Andrews 26 is my "go to" 88 bolt in. Crane 300 also good. I like SE tapered pushrods.

Suggest you get a copy of the Screamin Eagle Pro parts catalogue.
There is an entire section on Stage 2,3 & 4 options; for 88ci, 96ci & 103 ci bikes with a detailed description of the parts included in each "Stage" build.
Read through your options and then decide which combo meets your specific requirements.
Opinions are like belly-buttons, everyone has one & their's is always the best.
