Me and wife both been using Hi visibility Harley rain gear and gators for the shoes for a quite a while and few times got caught in heavy pour and we were glad to have them on. Anything cheap will become a para-suit and tear itself in extreme conditions, make sure to put it on before you get caught in the storm it's a bitch to put it on in a hurry just believe me.

I have a Nelson-Rigg... works great, comfortable, keeps out the wind and keeps you warm and dry.

I bought it several years ago, I think I paid around $60-$70 for it, and has served me very well.

I also use the HD hi-viz suit and it has kept me bone dry in some heavy rain situations. I also have some First Gear boot gators that do the trick as well. You might also consider some rubber gloves to keep your hands dry....mostly. After wearing the gloves for a while they do tend to make you hands "sweat" a little but only because they really don't breathe very well.

I have Frogg Toggs. Have ridden in them many times - sometimes in pouring down rain - each time without any issues. They also pack small in my Heritage saddle bags.

As others have already said, you will find many opinions on this. Good luck with your search!

I have a completely different perspective that most of the posters. The rain gear is going to spend 90+% of the time wadded up and crammed in the lowest corner of your saddle bag. On those occasions when you do need it, a cheap (but designed for motorcycling) rainsuit will serve just as well as an expensive one. I bought one for about $40 and hardly used it for the first couple years I had it. Then last year I had LOTS of rain in Laconia (aka Rainconia) and again on my second tour. The inexpensive suit worked well every time I needed it.

X2 I bought mine from Jafrum for $40. Haven't needed to use it yet but the reviews are all almost 100% positive.

There is no substitute for the Harley Hi Vis. Spend the doe, you'll be glad you did in the run.

I love my Blauer Police Motorcycle Rain Pants. They come in short and tall. I am 6'3". Nice to finally get rain pants that come down to my instep. They are only $59, and very high quality. I paid $12 extra to add stirrups, so they don't ride up.

I already had a rain jacket, but usually I am actually wearing my water resistant textile jacket.
