Default Black Engine Bolt Covers

I'm going to buy the Bolt Cover kit, but I think covering up the chrome bolts in the black areas of the engine/tranny with black bolt covers would look reallly nice. Does anybody know if HD or any aftermarket sell black bolt covers.

If not, what should I use to paint some of the chrome bolt covers black. Black spray paint (Home Depot), black nail polish?

DONT BUY THE BLACK HOT TOPPERS. they will NOT hold up to the heat.

i had them,,,they melt even with normal engine temps, they will deform and look funky. The chrome one reflects the heat and holds up good.

serioulsy, bolts cost less than the friggin toppers. I only use them where its not feasible to replace the bolts. Use polished stainless.

If you do use something like Hottoppers, make sure you take them off before you take it your bike to any mechanic to work on it.

Mechanics absolutely HATE those stupid things(I've been a mechanic for years).

Good idea! I would like to know if anyone else is selling these, I need black. I will not buy the plastic ones due to the heat. Anyone know of another company selling these?

if you can get metal ones, get them black powder coated.

my bike had toppers onit when I got it,,,i hate them, as i get new polished bolts, they are disapearing.......

got to admit, the do look good on some of the bolts on a black motor.

i used the black toppers before and never had a problem, but ymmv. if you want to try 'painting' them, go to your nearest army surplus place and get some m-nu. its for touching up your black insignia and is flat black in color. its a cheap way to see if youre gonna like it before spending more money on bolts. i would just paint the bolts and leave the covers off.

if you use the covers on the primary, your ok,, to use them on the pushrod tubes, or the larger engine bolts or ignition cover, especially the rocker boxes, they will melt.

hot toppers even gave me extras,,they deformed also.

very poor for heat
