WTH?..I just did CAM install. I used the service manual and it didn't mention to use it. But I watched a few videos and I noticed that they recommended using Loctite on the six bolts that hold the CAM support plate to the case.
I did torque the bolts to spec but didn't use the blue Loctite. Think it's a problem? Would you guys pull it apart?
If the manual did not mention it, it may not be entirely necessary on the other hand for piece of mind........ I would weigh the cost associated with removal to access vs. the cost of failure. If 20 people told you it will be OK will you sleep at night or every tick that comes out of your motor leave you worried? This of course is just my OCD talking.

If the motor starts ticking, it has nothing to do with no locktite on bolts unless the oil is streaming out of the cam chest cover gasket due to loose bolts causing a low oil issue. If the motor starts ticking after a cam job, I would look at pushrod adjustment or the locking nuts on same that may have come loose.

You think I should Loctite them?
I'm talking about the CAM support plate bolts. If so, do you you think I can remove one bolt at a time, Loctite it them torque it spec?
I'd hate to have to remove and readjust the pushrods since I've got those dialed in pretty good.

Oh, the cam support plate.....yeah, I think I would locktite those after you assure that the bolt holes are free of any oil residue.....doing one at a time following the torque squence should work fine.......I'm sure other will say it's not necessary but if for some reason the plate moves, it throws a lot of parts out of wack.....
If you still have the cover off you should be ok doing one bolt at a time, I don't think you want one of those rattling around the cam chest. If you already have the cover on you should probably go with a new gasket when you replace the cover to LT the inside bolts.
