What did they tell you, I agree with Nute! you need something to equalize the load and protect the LED's, def not resistor based as they will heat up like Nute said. I would call custom dynamics, I buy all my led stuff from them, be it for the Harley or other electronic projects.
The hd ones have it all built in, but after installing them on my last ride, I said never again. It was somewhat of a pain, had to route wires, install connectors etc. Purchased a 2013 FLHTC in Jan, custom dynamics was my first call, very nice and helpful. Got my full set including equalizer, less then 30mins later and I was done. Custom dynamics has earned all my future business. And they look good!
I've had my Panacea set for 2 years with no problems. What do you think is wrong with the Kuryakyn load equalizers?
They use the power that the old bulbs would have and get Hot!
If you installed it yourself you would have seen the warnings repeatedly say it could cause a fire if you use it too long.
The tech was sorta of correct - If you buy LED's that have the resistor built-in, ie the harley ones, then you dont need an equalizer. Not sure what switch he was referring too.

That's how most work, with resistors, including the HD ones. Just don't leave your blinkers or four way flashers on for hours at a time and you're good.
Whatever you do don't use the resister type that comes with the Kuryakyn.
Badlands is the answer. It's plug and play.
I had bought a set of the rear Kuryakyn led turn/ brake inserts #5444 and their website suggested to use their load equalizer #4810 which is only 18.99 and I chose to buy the plug-in adapter #4837 so I wouldn't have to cut into any original wiring, so everything seemed to work fine except if I get stuck at a long light with a turn signal on the flashing rate will speed up as if the resistor had failed, so I had just yesterday talked to one of their tech reps and he said this is normal and just turn off the turn signal to let the resistor (load equalizer) cool down and they will flash at the normal rate again, he had suggested their better load equalizer instead (which they are out of at this time) so I asked since this load equalizer that THEIR company had suggested to use ( I suggested them to take it off the market since it realyy doesn't work correctly) be traded in for credit towards the better load equalizer and he said since it's an electrical part they can not credit me, so beware of these cheap load equalizers since some do not work very good, I do like the looks of the lights though, I am wondering if the turn signals flashing at the fast rate would that cause any problems if you just let them flash fast?
