Default Recall notice

I should have brought the letter and scanned a PDF as it showed all models affected, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Anyways....I received a lettter from the MOCO Saturday informing me of a recall on Touring Models manufactured between 11/2005 and 3/2006 for a problem with the voltage regulator. This may be old news but wanted to give everyone a heads up! I ordered my RKCin December 2005 and took delivery in March 2006 so I have made an appt. at the dealer to have it checked into.

I got the same letter although I don't think it reaches the level of a recall, because there is nothing safety related.

I called my service department and the writer told me that the 4-digit number stamped on the regulator (mine was on the left side of the rear of the regulator) will tell them if it was affected. Basically the first two numbers are the week and the last two are the year that the regulator was built, that will tell them if it falls within the dates. Mine does and I am waiting word to see if they will let me upgrade to the chrome regulator when they replace itand simply pay the difference in the regulators.

I'll be damn, had a '06 RKC back then before I traded for my ultra... damn thing burned up on me twice. Covered under warranty so not that big of a deal, but HOG's membership that I used for towing left me stranded out on the side of the road for over 4 hours each time, wasn't in the toolies just west of DC like 15 miles.

Had mine at the dealers today. They did not even know about the notice, and neither did the Harlel Rep that was there either. Took them 15 minutes even to figure out what I was talking about cuz I did not bring the notice with me. They checked it and mine was not one that needed to be replaced.

And how many times might they say your bikedoesn't need the fix?

Dummies will just keeping saying nope, not yours, not your's if their too busy!

Why can we not trust theMoco monkey?

There must bea communication gap between Moco and the dealerships? I say yes! Do they even talk with each other?

I'm miffied at this whole lack of knowledge/communication that goes on with this company! Where's Donald Trump? Give this company some guidance and leadership skills!!!!

Don't they have weekly meetings to discuss these types of things.......or are they always on the golf course?

Wow! Unbelievable incompetence! It's a wonder they stay in business! Cuz all us dummies keep buying their words!

Dude,
You really need to buy some Jap Junk and move right on along the highway.

Your are attempting complain about mis communication at the MOCO?
Most maufactuers of vehicles don't issue a recall unless it's a safety related item, and then it sometimes takes the government pushing them.

Harley noticed a "trend" of volatge regulator failures, investagated it, and then made a decision to fix them all, not just the ones affected, but ALLL that might become affected. they could of just as easily issued a notice to the dealers to fix em when they come in under warrenty, and then the guys that fell outside of the time frame of warrnty would be S.O.L.

I got the notice on friday, called the local dealer on saturday, 10 minutes later was at the local dealer,45 minutes later after eating some pizza and BS'ing with some of the folks at the dealership, was down the road with a new Voltage Regultor.

Just because you ran accross one or two bad dealings with some dealership(s), doesn't mean it's the whole company, or the entire dealership network.
I have been dealing with Harley and it's dealership network for over 40 years, and in all that time, there is not one situation thatI would really lose a wink of sleep over.

But thenI realised along time ago this is not a perfect world, and sometimes there will be a bump or two in the road.

I just let my suspension absorb them.

Can't always blaime dealers. Most of the time the recall notice goes out to the media before the dealers are notified. At least its that way with car dealers.
