Recall notice
Anyways....I received a lettter from the MOCO Saturday informing me of a recall on Touring Models manufactured between 11/2005 and 3/2006 for a problem with the voltage regulator. This may be old news but wanted to give everyone a heads up! I ordered my RKCin December 2005 and took delivery in March 2006 so I have made an appt. at the dealer to have it checked into.

I called my service department and the writer told me that the 4-digit number stamped on the regulator (mine was on the left side of the rear of the regulator) will tell them if it was affected. Basically the first two numbers are the week and the last two are the year that the regulator was built, that will tell them if it falls within the dates. Mine does and I am waiting word to see if they will let me upgrade to the chrome regulator when they replace itand simply pay the difference in the regulators.

Why can we not trust theMoco monkey?
There must bea communication gap between Moco and the dealerships? I say yes! Do they even talk with each other?
I'm miffied at this whole lack of knowledge/communication that goes on with this company! Where's Donald Trump? Give this company some guidance and leadership skills!!!!
Don't they have weekly meetings to discuss these types of things.......or are they always on the golf course?
Wow! Unbelievable incompetence! It's a wonder they stay in business! Cuz all us dummies keep buying their words!

You really need to buy some Jap Junk and move right on along the highway.
Your are attempting complain about mis communication at the MOCO?
Most maufactuers of vehicles don't issue a recall unless it's a safety related item, and then it sometimes takes the government pushing them.
Harley noticed a "trend" of volatge regulator failures, investagated it, and then made a decision to fix them all, not just the ones affected, but ALLL that might become affected. they could of just as easily issued a notice to the dealers to fix em when they come in under warrenty, and then the guys that fell outside of the time frame of warrnty would be S.O.L.
I got the notice on friday, called the local dealer on saturday, 10 minutes later was at the local dealer,45 minutes later after eating some pizza and BS'ing with some of the folks at the dealership, was down the road with a new Voltage Regultor.
Just because you ran accross one or two bad dealings with some dealership(s), doesn't mean it's the whole company, or the entire dealership network.
I have been dealing with Harley and it's dealership network for over 40 years, and in all that time, there is not one situation thatI would really lose a wink of sleep over.
But thenI realised along time ago this is not a perfect world, and sometimes there will be a bump or two in the road.
I just let my suspension absorb them.
