I wonder why Harley Davidson doesn't offer after purchase fairings for RK's.

because of versatility - it's easier to add a removable fairing to a road king when it's cold, than take one off a street glide when in beautiful weather!

Well Harley is in the mass production business and as much as they charge for their products I dont think they would sell enough, plus most people would buy aftermarket that is much cheaper then a HD brand faring, just my .02

Before the RK came along there was the FLHS and the MoCo did offer a batwing kit for them. It was darned expensive and I never actually saw one! That was a glass-fibre shovel batwing, not the later plastic one. It is very strong and can be easily mounted on brackets similar to the RK windshield. Later and current batwings all need the dashboard which provides structural support, so a detachable batwing would mean a complete retooling, unless they revive the original g/f one!
