ok guys I have a 2011 ultra limited I have never been very far on it I am moving from oklahoma to Las Vegas I was thinking about renting a trailer and pulling it then I was thinking Hell maybe I should just ride it how hard would this Ride be? is there any back roads someone said to take rt 66 as far as I can where would you pick that up at and would it be worth it or should i just take the interstate
Route 66 would be a great choice, you can pick it up right there in Oklahoma. I have ridden it between Tulsa and OKC. We drove it one year from KC to LV, Colorado and Utah are beautiful. We took I-70 in the family truckster.
If you have the time, take the back roads. You'll see more that way. If you have to get there, take the interstate.
It would be a 2-3 day ride depending on which way you go and how much you want to do in one day. I highly recommend you ride it. My 1st longish ride, I was pretty anxious, but turned out to be about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on.
You have a tourer, time to take the plunge. Have fun!!
Highway U.S. 50 is a good route to take.
Wouldn't be that hard at all...Hell...I rode mine from Chicago, IL to Austin, TX. As far as back roads...It depends on how much time you have...I hit the super slab all the way and ate up the miles fairly quickly.
I40 if you're in a hurry but I'd elect for Rt 66 if you have the time. I rode from Wisconsin to Albuquerque last spring and did a mix of state hiways and the slab. Both were enjoyable for different reasons but the most fun was the back roads. More interesting scenery on them. My trip was 3.5 days down and 3 days back. Did all interstate on the way back but only about 450 miles per day.
Not sure where you're coming from in OK but guessing it would be two full days if you take the interstate and maybe 4 if you take Rt 66. (Got to take time to smell the roses!!)
Route 66 might be a good choice for the move. Details of the actual route can be found here http://www.historic66.com .
Some buddies and I are heading to CA from NC later this summer. Mostly taking I-40 going west, but heading to Vegas and onto Tahoe from AZ. Then head down the coast to LA to visit friends and family. Planning on taking I-10/I-20 heading back.
