I have a 2011 Ultra with SE Street Cannons, and I just purchased the SE Stage 1 air cleaner. I am looking to change out the headers to reduce heat and free up the exhaust flow. I want to keep the dual exhaust, and I was looking at the V&H power duals or true duals. What is everyone's take on either of them? I realize if I change the exhaust myself, I will need exhaust gaskets but is there anything else that I would need. Does the V&H come will all the brackets, etc that I need to install them?
I am also looking for a decent tuner, and I know that I will need to do this to stop the lean condition. I don't want the download, because if I change anything later, with a tuner it should be an easy swap. What is everyone's take on the Fuel Moto Power Commander? Can this easily be installed? Also, do I keep it on the bike, or just change the ECM and unplug?
I am very mechanically inclined as I did all the work on my previous bike with jetting the carbs, and all the maintenance. I am new to HD and I love my new ride. Any advice would be appreciated.
The Power Vision will give you the ability to make changes to the ECM as you make changes to the bike. I think it's the most versatile tuner out there.
Jackpot's head pipe is also a good option should you choose to replace that as well.
with true duals you will most likely lose torque (compared to 2:1:2).
Most popular non cat X pipes seem to be the VH power dual, Fuelmoto Jackpot, (can have it ceramic coated) or Fullsac (ceramic). I use the Fullsac and it works fine, but I think either of the other two would give similar results. I see more and more of the VH power duals out there. Just depends on price and looks.
Ok as far as the Power Commander, I am looking at purchasing the PV5 (15-011) for $299. Do I need to get the autotuner option as well? Sorry for all the quesitons, but I haven't done this before and want to make sure that I get everything I need. I just want my bike to run effeciently, it already has plenty of power.
As stated before, I am changing out the headers for heat reason not performance.
+1 on the Power Vision, it flashes the ECM, where the PC-5 is a piggy back module, a little shout out to Fuelmoto these guys are great, Give Jamie or Keith a shout and pick their brains a little, they not only have Jackpot 2-1-2, but I believe you can get VH duals from them also. it would be worth a 5 minute call.
I just did this a month ago. Power Duals come with everything you'll need. Even exhaust gaskets and instructions that make sense. With the understanding that I haven't used anything else, I really like the Power Vision. Got it from Fuel Moto. Tuning was really simple. In addition to tuning the bike, I used the PV to calibrate my speedo. It's right on with the GPS now. It's a very simple system. Expensive, but simple.
