Yes, that could have easily been why I broke my rear tire free. I might have relaxed my throttle grip as soon as I passed the deer while I was still swerving back to my original direction. My instant feeling of relief having missed the deer turned back into panic as I almost lost it on the freeway. It was only by instinct (and luck) that I kept it upright.

One thing I learned is try to avoid combining left-right (or right-left) swerves. If you can, hesitate a half second in between to let the springs come back up with the bike straight. Then you have weight on the back wheel for the second swerve. Joe
ps you might want to start your drills at a slower speed so your wife knows what to expect...

I practice to keep that dang passenger floor pan from hitting the back of my leg if I put my foot down too soon.

Good thread. We should have a safety tips section on the forum where everyone can share experiences and safety tips and drills. Might save someones life. Maybe Jerry the Motorman could moderate or contribute?
