Default Chrome switch housing

Hi,
Has anyone installed the HD Chrome Switch Housing Kit ( pn 70228-96c ) ?
Is it just a simple bolt on or do you need to play with switches and wires ?

Thanks in advance.

good news, you don't have to cut any wires, unless your turn signals are mounted to the handlebars. bad news, you have to undo all the switches from the housings. its a pain, but if you take your time and have patience, you can do it. if you have an UC its even worse, since you have all the extra stuff (cruise, radio, etc). but again, just be patient. BTW, i'd also recommend you get a HD repair manual to back up the instructions.

I have done 2. No actual wiring only transferring the switch assemblies. But Ultra's and bikes with cruise have a buttload of wiring stuffed in them. You must be very carefull not to pinch any wires and if you use the chrome switch cap kit, it will add a extra hour to the job. If you are not mechanically inclined don't try it. Mike

i got my housings from tennessee cycle on e-bay for a lot less than HD. they look great and the chrome appears to be just as good as what HD offers.

IceHeritage, don't know if this helps, but I encountered the same problem, but with the left side audio control switch. Turned out I had mounted the switch inside the housing incorrectly--the switch protruded too far; dissassembled the housing and repositioned the switch--problem solved. If the rubber boot of the switch is protruding out of the housing, theswitch is probably not mounted in the bottom of the housing correctlyand reassembling the switch in the housing should take care of the problem.

fitting the switches and wiring back in, without crimping a wire or getting a switch mis-located is a bitch. on both bikes I did, i had to readjust the switches to ensure they were all even, and make sure the turn signal switch worked properly without dragging against the housing and sticking. can be done, but is a pain in the rear.
