Serioulsy why do people think the rubber mounts shake too much. How much time do you spend sitting on an idling bike anyway? I don't get it. At speed the rubber mount is much smoother. Just my $0.02.
For the OP, Road King all the way. It does it all and looks the best doing it! Such a versitile bike.
I prefer the "Ultra Limited". I ride mine without the tour-pak most of the time, but can clip it on in a minute for my wife to ride along or for hauling stuff. I get 41 miles per gallon... Yes, 41 m.p.g. with this rocket...if I drive nice a nice boy!
Road King... All the advantages of a "Touring Bike" without the "Geezer Glide Stigma"
THIS^^^^^
You can have a touring bike "without the trappings" of a Touring bike. IE Miata dashboard, all the extra bags and weight. Take the windshield off and you have a great Summer commuter, leave it on and its not really there anyway. If you don't ride two up you especially don't need a Geezer glide.
Bike can be fitted with Guard chaps and lowers for Winter riding. Unless you need a dashboard, I would avoid the extra electronics and weight on the front forks. My FLHR is a nice compromise between a street bike and highway bike when needed. Too many gauges are a distraction and you cannot see the road directly in front of the bike., If I want music I out in ear buds attached to my phone and listen privately. I have never heard a bike sound system that sounds better than a pair of Westone earbuds and a player.
You never forget you are on a motorcycle with that huge chrome Nacelle leading the way
