I'll third that!!! This is an issue you really shouldn't be screwing with unless your: mechanical and have a service manual AND the bike is out of warranty!!! Take the service manager to the showroom and make him twist the throtle of a new bike on his showroom floor...then...get satisfaction watching him melt down!
dave thanks for the idea. Bought new hd with mouchoo warrenty so in my ripe old age of 43 I could stop crawling around garage all day with a wrench. The sm and parts manuel dont have/show any easy fixes either. Will stop by hd of lancaster tommorow and will keep posted of progress.
Does the EG have the thumb controlled throttle lock, or the electronic cruise control? If it does have the throttle lock, that may be your probem, if its overtightened.
BTW, I'd like to swap dealers with ya. My throttle was adjusted perfectly until I took it in for the 1K service. They loosened so much that now if I just touch it it revs. They won't tighten it for me stating safety issues.
thanks to this awsome forum and the help of lancaster hd. fixed it!!! yaahoo yeha
went back today and spoke to service department. but this time I was more determend. Rick at service took a look and did theuseless adj. and said it was fine. Then I continued in a very nice way to not let it go like that. I reached over to another bike at the shop and twisted the throttle and it was like smooth as silk and made mine seem like sand paper. He then started to look deeper and said they would bring it wright in and fix. What they found was that the cable that surrounds thecablewire has a metal lining and that metal lining was fraid. After only 15 minutes they had fixed/replaced cable. They said they dont know what caused it. Also it took a double look for them to spot with it apart cause when they took wire out of cable, wire slid right out and was fine. It is so smooth I accidently poped a wheely after thanking them an heading out of parking lot. No charge for this and they offered to wash bike.
