Default What do you think??

Ok guys I'm needing a little advice. I currently have an 03 night train with almost 28k miles (95" s&s 585 gear drive cams, fi with sert, a little head work and right about 95hp 95tq), I drove by a local car lot today and they had an 02 Electra glide standard fire fighters ed sitting out front so I stopped and looked at it. It's a local trade with 39k miles. The guy that traded it in said that it had had motor work just not sure what. I looked it over and it has a set of screamin eagle heads, hi flow filter, Mikuni carb, and you could tell some cams by the way it sounded when fired up. But no one seems to know what cams or what kind, when the motor work was done, and what all was done. Also it had a stock Harley radio that doesn't know and the right lower part of the bag has a little damage. Tires look ok, starts right up, has street glide front fender, Vance and Hines long shots ( I would rather have duals), chrome lowers, chrome wheels (back hasn't been cleaned very well and is pealing), and quick detach backrest and luggage rack. I'm just wondering do you guys think I should stick with my night train since I know every bolt and every part on and in it. Or think about trading it for the flht? They have 8900 list on the bike and know they have some wiggle room. If I were to trade my bike in what would be a fair deal (I personally think my bike is worth a decent amount more than the flht. Thanks for all the help. Here is a link to the flht. http://www.delongautogroup.com/vehic...ipton-in.shtml

02 is a very good year, was the last year for Timkin crank bearings and forged bottom end, it has had a lot done to it, cosmetics does not bother me thats easy. Alot has been removed, the front and rear crash bars, passing lamps, only has one brake rotor on the front.
I do know that a Electra Glide standard came with a silver motor, that one looks black. Is a nice looking bike, just not sure about the engine or if it was beat on or driven nicely. I bought a stock Standard that was babied and did all the upgrades myself. I would buy it but keep your other bike if you can, just my .02.....

I would love to have 2 bikes, but with 2 kids under 5 and getting ready to buy a new hosier it's not an option. I can tell there had been motor work done because like you said the cylinders are different, screamin eagle heads, and buy the idle a cam (just don't know what cam or if it is gear drive or not. And I believe I read there is a fuse for the radio in the fairing. But I would probably switch it out since it has a cassette tape player and not cd or anything modern.

I think you'd have to want a bagger pretty bad to make a trade. Do they have the tour pack for it? I too would want to change the exhaust, that's $800 or more added to your cost.
And,the front fender sucks! Just depends on what kind of trade they'll do,and how bad you want the bike!

I'd pass.

I would never buy a bike that I didn't know what work was done.... or who done it.

I'm curious what makes you think that.

Not trying to **** you off or burst a bubble, but don't want you to get there and be surprised when they tell you.

Bluebook wise, they are within a thousand dollars of each other retail.

You don't get retail when you trade, and KBB gives $6350 trade in value for yours.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide. That Train sounds like a great bike, I'd keep it.

Someone has done a lot of work to that bike and it looks like it was done well. Might have been some love involved?? Just depends if the "work" is your style?? '02 was the best 88" year but it is 12+ years old. I think it is pretty much an even dollar swap with your softail. Only you know if it checks the boxes for you???

Thanks guys. I called around to 4 or 5 dealerships in the area and gave them the vin to see if they had ever done anything to the bike and none of them had ever had it in there shop. I found a dealer sticker in the oil fill plug but that dealership had been sold to one of the local dealerships and they said they have none of the records from the old dealership and don't know who has them and they will probably never get them. So I'm out of luck there. The dealership that has the bike for sale is going to get a hold of the last owner m they bought the bike off of and see what info they can get off of him.
