When I bought my RK Custom in 06 one of my leather bags looked the same way. I took it off of the bike and back to the dealer. They told me that they were having all kinds of problems with the bag manufacturer about the bags and a lot of customers were bringing them back. They ordered me a new bag and apologized for the inconvience that it cost me. They were truly discouraged with the manufacturers workmanship.
I have an 06 rkc and when i got the bike last july the bags were perfect..i got caught in a rain storm and put the bike in the garage wet..the next day the top of the bags were swelled just like yours..but not as bad...
after about a week of sunny 80 degree weather and letting them dry natrualy they were tight again..i put a real good coat of leather conditioner on and haven't had problem again..
if your's haven't been wet i bring it back to the dealer asap....
I sent my sales guy an e-mail and no response. He might just be "that way" though, and I know they have been busy lately.I'll drop in and just happen to have the bags with me in the trunk and see what he says.
I'm not that **** about it from a cosmetic viewpiont, but when we spend this kind of $$$, you just expect more I guess.
Do hard bags mount right up to the same brackets? More curious than anything (for now).
I see what you're talking about and I think they should have the leather be tighter. That's at least how mine is. I would get annoyed with that "loose" leather.
OK. I wentto my sales guy and he knew right away what I was talking about. I brought in the bag and he replaced it with another bag from another bike on the floor (now I feel for the next guy).
We spoke to one of the parts managers and apparently HD has been denying replacements lately saying that the loose leather is "normal" and is supposed to stretch. If that were the case then the bags would all be like that, not having one tight and on loose. Anyway, I'm glad I've got a great salesperson. Made me feel good about dropping another hundred on chrome today
Kudos to Wild Fire HD in Villa Park, IL. Especially Rick C.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
